Creative Director

The Creative Director at ONTRAPORT is a visionary. We are looking for an individual who is creative by nature, understands user interaction and is comfortable directing all phases of creative work from concept development through production. This role will work closely with the President to manage brand standards, provide direction on public-facing assets while ensuring each deliverable is technically superior and meets the goal of creating deeper engagement with our audience.

The Creative Director works hands-on with the Marketing Team to generate new and compelling ideas for all marketing assets, including videos, stories, series, interviews, campaigns and the like. The Creative Director must stay ahead of trends to develop concepts and campaigns to ensure ONTRAPORT is a trend maker and thought leader in the entrepreneurial space. In addition, the Creative Director oversees all creative service requests from other ONTRAPORT units, including Operations, Client Services, Business Development and Engineering, maintaining a cohesive brand throughout the organization.

Essential Functions:

Marketing Creative:

  • Oversee Design & Video teams.
  • Maintain industry best practices for conversion.
  • Work with Project Manager to improve process and workflows.
  • Coach and mentor members of the Design & Video teams.
  • Provide concepts and creative direction for each program offered.
  • As a working leader, complete graphic design assignments.

Internal Department Creative Services:

  • Meet with department head to ensure complete requests.
  • Organize resource and priorities based on company goals.
  • Maintain a cohesive brand across the organization.
  • Execute our asset revision schedule to keep all assets up to date.

Leadership:

  • Lead a collaborative, diverse and focused team to produce breakthrough work, every time, across all disciplines: advertising, collateral design, digital and web, social and experiential.
  • Create an environment that places a premium on ideas, creativity, and innovation.
  • Bring fresh perspective to every new problem.
  • Collaborate with various departments to maximize results for the overall organization, in particular Marketing, Design, Content, and Video teams.
  • Lead and actively participate in brainstorm sessions.
  • Create and develop style guides across all departments and functions.
  • Oversee asset management system and creative assets to maintain consistency and ensure creative tools are current.
  • The Creative Director must show efficiency and competency in expression through all phases of a project, anticipating and troubleshooting as conflicts arise.
  • Inspire and mentor the creative team.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Measure and report on results.
  • Support and mentor team members in idea development.
  • Help sustain and guide creative process.
  • Document, maintain and organize department workflows.
  • Develop treatments and idea boards for new creative concepts.
  • Write scripts and other copy needed for video shoots.
  • Write articles, social media posts, and other copy as needed.
  • Peer review content.
  • Identify key relevant trade shows and events related to our industry.
  • Develop media and content to support our growing Australian market, and look to build stories for international markets.
  • Maintain an online whiteboard of articles, concepts, ideas, and the like.
  • Proactively improve all systems and processes on a continual basis.
  • Be part of the support think tank.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of idea/concept gathering and storytelling techniques
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Light travel required

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Background in Graphic Design
  • Minimum ten years of practical brand and creative related experience

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Attend and coordinate department meetings, when applicable.
  • Collaborate with other departments on internal projects and deadlines.
  • Delegate and review team assignments.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and computer printer.

Must have a high level of computer literacy. Role includes repetitive movement of hands and fingers for long periods of time – typing and/or writing.

User Experience/Interface Designer

ONTRAPORT is looking for a skilled User Experience/Interface Designer to join our fast-growing product team. As a UX designer, you will work directly with the product team on interface design for our SaaS platform used by thousands of businesses around the world.

This person should have a talent and passion for translating complex tasks into simple interactions — driving our product’s ease of use. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly collaborative environment, working alongside UX design peers, Software Engineers, QA Engineers, and Product Managers to create revolutionary software solutions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop wireframes, designs and detailed UI specifications for the engineering team.
  • Present designs to Product Team, continuing to iterate and incorporate feedback as necessary.
  • Facilitate user research, in collaboration with the team, to validate prototypes and conduct ongoing usability testing of the working software.
  • Contribute to the continual development of user interface design requirements and standard UI components.
  • Support the team as needed with wireframes, flow diagrams, rapid prototypes to communicate and validate design ideas.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in user experience or interactive visual design.
  • Must possess a sense of practicality and curiosity combined with a genuine love for products, people, and user experience.
  • The ability to understand and design for complex technical products, using modern design best practices.
  • The ability to clearly organize design documents, communicate design rationale, and build consensus.
  • Adobe design tools expertise.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript prototyping. Direct experience optimizing design concepts around these technologies.
  • Experience in a collaborative design environment and the ability to constructively contribute to team growth and maintaining excellence throughout the department.
  • A cutting edge portfolio of software design that demonstrates outstanding interaction design skills.
  • Experience with a variety of UX deliverables (wireframes, user flows, mockups, prototypes, etc.)
  • Experience with large and complex software interfaces and projects.

Graphic Designer

ONTRAPORT is looking for a Graphic Designer to help build our brand by creating impactful visuals, collateral, interactive design and brand identity for all departments. The designer will contribute to and design the interface for various web applications such as our brand magazine and blog, as well as help maintain the look and feel of our main consumer-facing website.

This amazing opportunity requires 2-4 years experience. It also requires a comprehensive knowledge of design methods and techniques that apply to the conceptualization and implementation of design solutions to meet business and marketing needs.

Primary Duties:
  • Interact with Design Director to define and develop new branding concepts, collateral, UI, landing pages and campaigns.
  • Build mockups and prototypes to communicate and refine creative concepts.
  • Contribute creative briefs, wireframes and storyboards when pitching ideas.
  • Develop reusable brand materials.
  • Promote best practices for web user experience and print production.
  • Recommend improvements to the user experience, branded collateral and marketing campaigns.
  • Collaboratively work with Growth, Content and Brand departments to develop new briefs for creative campaigns and initiatives.
Ancillary Duties:
  • Proactively improve all systems and processes on a continual basis.
  • Actively participate in the weekly Think Tank.
  • Uphold all brand standards and continue to evolve and improve upon them.
  • Provide design point of view and peer feedback in design meetings.
Required Skills:
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Basic working knowledge of HTML and CSS and best practices for web design
  • WordPress experience a plus
  • Knowledge of printing procedures and print file preparation
  • Knowledge of photo retouching for print and web
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
